Artist-in-Residence: Alejandra Quechol

Utah Diné Bikéyah
March 1, 2025, 1-3pm
Included with general admission. Free for members.
Join us for a March celebration of Women’s History Month. Lovina Lee of Diné Bikéyah will be offering a hands-on workshop making Navajo hair ties. Lovina will also be demonstrating how to put together and use traditional Navajo cradleboards.

Little Leos

Stop in to work on a hands-on craft activity with our wonderful education staff! This monthly program is best for Little Leos between 2 and 6 years old, accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Family STEM Day – Conduction/Induction
March 15, 2025, 1-3pm
Included with General Admission, Free for Members.
Has static electricity ever caused your hair to stand on end? Spend a “shocking” afternoon at The Leo learning how to create a homemade electroscope that can transfer a static charge.

Homeschool Day
March 21, 2025, 10am-2pm
Reduced Admission: $5/person.
Calling all homeschoolers! Please join us for this monthly hands-on field trip day available at a discounted admission rate. Sign up on our website to reserve your spot.

CRAFT – Shell Art with Visiting artist Ann Vogel
March 21, 2025, 7-9pm
$35/person, Pre-registration Required.
Washington artist (and Salt Lake native) Ann Vogel will lead this first time CRAFT class in the art of painting and decorating shells. Guests will take home 10 -12 shells adorned with paint, decoupage, and gold leaf. These gems make perfect gifts or table favors for your next beach-inspired party.

Family STEM Day – Music Day
March 22, 2025, 1-3pm
Included with General Admission, Free for Members.
Join our museum educators and make homemade musical instruments with items commonly found around the house.

Sensory Inclusive Afternoon
March 26, 2025, 4-6pm
Included with general admission. Free for members.
Join us 4-6 pm for a sensory friendly Leonardo experience. Lights will be dimmed and sounds will be turned down. There will also be sensory friendly activities in the Art Studio.

Leo Libations – Ides of March Wine Tasting
March 27, 2025, 6:30-8pm
$70/person, Members sign-in for discount
Pre-registration is required.
There’s nothing ominous about this March tasting event led by Jim Santangelo of the Wine Academy of Utah. Join us as Jim showcases wines from northern to southern Italy, accompanied by a luscious three-course meal of olive and sun-dried tomato crostini, mushroom stuffed ravioli in a rich garlic-infused cream sauce, and traditional tiramisu.
This is a 21+ event. ID is required to attend and registration is nonrefundable for those denied entry. Registration will close March 25th, 2025. No refunds will be offered for cancellations made less than 48 hours before the event.

Art Adventures
March 29, 2025, 2-4pm
Included with General Admission, Free for Members.
Transport yourself to sunny Barcelona for this Gaudí-inspired mosaic workshop. We will create three-dimensional lizard sculptures covered in colored foam tiles based on the fantastical creatures of Park Güell.

Asian Art: Art Meditating on Nature
Exhibition April 11- May 25th, 2025
OPEN CALL: Closes March 14th
The Leonardo invites artists of Asian descent living in Utah to submit work in honor of Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. Submissions should celebrate traditional Eastern art forms and support the theme of Art Meditating on Nature. Please use this form to upload images of your work. Artists may submit up to 3 images for consideration (jpegs preferred). The Leo will curate works based on space limitations. Submissions cannot be accepted after March 14th. All artwork should be submitted already prepared for display. Artists will be notified of acceptances by March 21. Please email programs@theleonardo.org with questions.
