MOSAICO: Italian Code of a Timeless Art
The Leonardo is thrilled to announce the opening of the highly anticipated multimedia immersive exhibition “MOSAICO: Italian Code of a Timeless Art.” Presented by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, conceived and produced by Magister Art, and organized by the Italian Cultural Institute of San Francisco and the Consulate General of Italy, this groundbreaking exhibition invites visitors to discover Italy’s vibrant mosaic heritage through cutting-edge technology and immersive storytelling.
Structured around seven stations, “MOSAICO: Italian Code of a Timeless Art,” is the first traveling multimedia exhibition dedicated to Italian mosaics: a 2,000-year journey exploring the images, symbols, techniques, and materials of some of the most famous and representative Italian mosaics, including those in Rome, Pompeii, Aquileia, Ravenna, Palermo, Monreale, Piazza Armerina and the submerged city of Baia. The exhibition combines centuries-old craftsmanship with state-of-the-art multimedia, allowing visitors to interact with ancient mosaics, and provides a deep dive into how mosaics were used as a medium for storytelling, cultural expression, and religious devotion, demonstrating the great relevance of this artistic form.
