SPIRALING UPWARDS: the Traveling Gallery of FLUID MOTION
The American Physical Society, in partnership with The Leonardo, is proud to announce the opening of a new exhibition that bridges art and science to show the motion of fluids. Spiraling Upwards offers visitors the opportunity to see and interact with installations that demonstrate the physics of fluids and how it can help them understand the world around them. The exhibition runs through Jan. 31, 2025.
This is the second launch of the Traveling Gallery of Fluid Motion’s exhibition series that bridges the gap between science and art. Following the inaugural show, Chaosmosis: Assigning Rhythm to the Turbulent, held at The National Academy of Sciences in Washington D.C. in 2023, this year’s presentation delves into the intersection of Leonardo da Vinci’s studies on fluid dynamics and flight, alongside carefully selected pieces from the Gallery of Fluid Motion’s archive at the American Physical Society’s Division of Fluid Dynamics (APS-DFD).
