WINTER CITY: Collectively We Dream & Together We Build

This winter, The Leonardo is proud to announce the opening of a magical new interactive exhibition that is perfect for all ages—Winter City.

Guests will be invited into an enchanting gallery space where they will enjoy the freedom to express their vision in helping to build the ultimate wonderland city, complete with houses, lights, snowflakes and more. Supplies will be provided on-site, and participants can let their imaginations run wild, while learning about city planning and architecture and how a city’s buildings and layout shape the way we live.

Visitors will be challenged to think creatively and innovatively as they collaborate with one another—either in real time or over the course of months—to create a city that represents their collective hopes and dreams.

This project connects to the works of Leonardo da Vinci through his architectural designs and his view of an ‘ideal city.’ Today, we are often forced to adapt and rethink our cities due to cultural and economic shifts, climate change, and of course, the recent pandemic. And while these considerations will likely never occur to the builders of Winter City, who can foresee what questions they might pose through the course of their own explorations?
