Monet to Kandinsky: The Leonardo Hosts U.S. Debut of Immersive Multimedia Experience

SALT LAKE CITY, Oct. 6, 2021—The Leonardo will host Art Through Experience: Monet to Kandinsky, an immersive multimedia show, and debut event in the museum’s new state-of-the-art immersive digital exploratory art (IDEA) gallery. Art Through Experience: Monet to Kandinsky

Hosted in partnership with MagicSpace Entertainment and Universal Exhibition Group (UEG), Monet to Kandinsky is an exciting, immersive show featuring the works of the remarkable masters of modernism in a unique combination of HD projections of nearly 1,000 works of art, animated graphics and music. Prior to entering the IDEA space, visitors will immerse themselves in the context of the era, and into the minds of the artists to understand the forces that inspired them to transform reality into abstract art. Featured artists include Claude Monet, Georges Seurat, Paul Gaugin, Vincent van Gogh, Juan Gris, Edvard Munch, Wassily Kandinsky and more.

The exhibit opens to the public on Saturday, November 13 at The Leonardo, 209 East 500 South, Salt Lake City.

The gallery provides a safe opportunity for socially distanced and contactless experiences.

Supporting Utahs’ Students and Economy

The Leonardo received a Utah Economic Assistance Grant from the Governor’s Office of Economic Opportunity to help fund the Art Through Experience series. This grant will also help ensure the gallery space is accessible to students across the state. 

“We proudly support The Leonardo’s efforts to bring an immersive digital gallery experience to Utah residents with Art Through Experience,” said Dan Hemmert, executive director of the Governor’s Office of Economic Opportunity. “This series of art shows also provides opportunities for Utah’s rural communities to experience this technologically advanced exhibit by funding increased outreach through Leo on Wheels, one of The Leonardo’s education programs.”

A First for Utah and the U.S. 

Art Through Experience events has played to global audiences in cities including Berlin, Dubai, Moscow, and Bangkok. The Leonardo is hosting the first-ever showing of the series in the United States. 

Utah-based MagicSpace Entertainment is joining the project as a marketing and promotional partner for the Art Through Experience exhibit. The Leonardo will host an exciting roster of shows for the Art Through Experience series. Following Monet to Kandinsky, visitors can experience Italian Renaissance, which will feature masterpieces from some of history’s most renowned artists including the museum’s namesake, Leonardo Da Vinci, as well as Michelangelo, Raphael, and Botticelli. Later shows will showcase even more beloved artists, including the timeless works of Vincent Van Gogh.
