Homeschool Education Day

Homeschool Education Day Overview

Homeschool families are invited to visit The Leonardo for one of our Homeschool Education Days! On this day, we offer free general admission (does not include Pompeii: The Exhibition) for homeschool families that present their homeschool certificate/affidavit at the Admissions desk. This offer extends only to children listed on the homeschool certificate and up to two guardians.
Come enjoy hands-on STEAM learning with activities like Pilot in Training, Make and Take, Science demos and more! Plus you can join one of our educators for a workshop at no additional cost.

No parking validations are offered. However, public transportation is easily accessible from the museum. For more information on transportation, visit our Directions and Parking page. Due to our Salt Bistro having limited capacity, spaces will be available to eat a sack lunch you bring from home. For more information, review the FAQs below!

Frequently Asked Questions

Can online charter school students get free admission?

Online charter schools and 3P/PPP do not qualify for free admission, only Home School families with a valid affidavit or certificate. This documentation is required.

Students enrolled in an online charter school are part of the public school system and qualify to be a part of a fully sponsored school field trip (funding provided by the Utah State Office of Education). A teacher from the online charter school can learn more at: https://www.theleonardo.org/educators/field-trips/. Any non-school siblings will require a general admission ticket. Homeschooled children are also eligible to participate in the sponsored fieldtrips organized by their local public school. Contact the school’s principal to let him/her know that you are interested and to find out dates of those field trips.

Do I need to register or RSVP for this event?

Registration is encouraged. Please register here and/or show up with your homeschool certificate/affidavit to get free general admission access (does not include Pompeii: The Exhibition).

Can my children come for homeschool day without me?

All children must be accompanied and supervised by a legal parent or guardian.

What do I need to bring with me?

To receive free general admission, you must present your homeschool certificate/affidavit at Admissions. This offer extends only to children listed on the homeschool certificate and their 1-2 guardians. If neither guardian is available to attend, another legal guardian can accompany the children, but he/she must bring the certificate/affidavit that names the children.

Can the rest of my family visit The Leonardo as well?

Any children not listed on the certificate/affidavit must pay general admission. This includes any homeschooled students not listed on the certificate/affidavit. Note all children under age 3 are free. Any additional adults (other than the 1-2 parents) must pay general admission. Details are available at: https://www.theleonardo.org/visit.

Where can I park?

The Leonardo does not offer parking validations; however, public transportation is easily accessible from the museum. Details are available on our Directions and Parking page.

Are there any options for lunch?

The Leonardo’s Salt Bistro has numerous food and beverage options. If you choose to bring a sack lunch, seating will be available. Please check-in with admissions for available lunch spaces on Homeschool Day.

Is Pompeii: The Exhibition included in Homeschool Day?

Pompeii: The Exhibition will not be free for Homeschool Day. You may purchase tickets for the exhibit at the admissions desk at check-in.
